Help with pet tropical fish! 10 ?

I just bought a tetra 2.5 gallon aquarium and I need some help. First question: it comes with a tetra micro filter, what is that? Second question: if I would like goldfish in the same aquarium with tropical fish, would that be bad? Last question: what would be the smallest but prettiest tropical fish?
